General Description of Position and Summary of Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

NorthWest Arkansas Community College is seeking qualified applicants to establish a pool for part-time and/or substitute instructors in the ceramics discipline. Applications will be kept on file for the fiscal year ending June 30. When a position becomes available, the hiring department will review the applications on file. After each fiscal year end the application will expire and a new application must be completed to remain in the applicant pool.

The Art Department offers courses in Art Appreciation, Art History, History of Photography and Graphic Design, drawing, painting, (oil/acrylic), watermedia, sculpture, ceramics, figure drawing, intro to studio art, and photography.
A qualified candidate is being sought to teach ceramics classes part-time. The candidate must know how to create hand-built as well as wheel thrown ceramics. Knowledge of design and fine art expression in ceramics as well as the creation of functional production pottery and knowledge of glaze-mixing desired. Must be able to operate programmable electric kilns and other types of kilns and firing methods.

A minimum of a Master’s Degree in Art with a focus on Ceramics is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Handbuilt and wheel thrown pottery and glaze-mixing. Knowledge of operation of programmable electric kilns and other types of firing methods, and best ceramics classroom practices.
